Sr. Human Resources Generlaist

The Village of Skokie is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our Human Resources Division. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality HR services and supporting the Village’s mission through expert administration of human resources policies, programs, and employee relations.

As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Senior HR Generalist performs a wide range of professional duties, including but not limited to reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.  This may include supervisory training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and other applicable employee training &development initiatives; Manages the employee onboarding process to include re-development of the New Employee Orientation program and oversight of in-person, and potentially virtual orientation programs for new hires; Advocates and supports talent management by methodically and strategically getting the right talent onboard and helping them grow to their optimal capabilities while keeping organizational objectives in mind; Works collaboratively with department directors, managers and supervisors, providing professional guidance/assistance in such areas as hiring, evaluation, collective bargaining, training and development, employee discipline, employee recognition, work environment issues, and other related matters; Identifies training and development tools and resources for managerial staff which prove beneficial to the Village; Supervises assigned staff and provides day-to-day guidance within the Human Resources division; Provides oversight of employee benefits administration and related vendor coordination; Manages employee relations issues, including conducting workplace investigations and advising departments on disciplinary processes; Supports labor relations functions, including handling grievances, ensuring contract compliance, and assisting with negotiations; Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

 
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field is required; Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a human resources department or related function is required; Professional public sector human resources experience is preferred; SHRM certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or equivalent) is considered a plus; Thorough knowledge of Federal and State labor laws and a demonstrated ability to apply them consistently; Working knowledge of best practices in Human Resources, including employee relations, benefits, and labor compliance; Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage confidential matters professionally; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Familiarity with BS&A enterprise system a plus; Must follow all safety rules of the Village; Must follow all safety rules of the Village.
 
The salary range for this position is $91,611 - $119,845.  The annualized starting salary range is $91,611 - $101,001 (DOQ).
