Job Description
 Primary Job Description: Responsible for the overall maintenance of all equipment.  This includes preventative and reactive maintenance for all production & supporting equipment.
Reports To: Chief Engineer
 
Detailed Description:
Primary Duties
  • Perform preventative maintenance per schedule and as needed following Company software platform and common industry practice.
  • Preventative maintenance should be completed on rooftop equipment and equipment located in confined spaces.
  • Using the software, provide feedback, updates and notes when preventative maintenance is completed.
  • Responsible to maintain adequate and organized parts inventory and log all inventory items used.
  • Troubleshoot, support & repair of all production equipment
  • Determine material, parts, and equipment to be used for repair, installation and what is needed for stock inventory. Communicate same to Chief Engineer.
  • Install, inspect, repair and maintain the mechanical, electrical and other related systems in all production and supporting departments.
  • Inspect, operate and maintain steam, heating, cooling and water treatment systems in entire plant.
  • Complete all necessary documentation as described under company guidelines. Must comply with all company safety rules and policies.
  • Organize and maintain and clean the tool room so that it is work friendly and safe.
  • Notify supervisor of any needed parts and/or equipment.
  • Immediately notify supervisor and or managers of ant problems that cannot be easily repaired.
  • Responsible for on time startup and shutdown of the facility.
  • Follow all OSHA and Company safety precautions at all times including but not limited to lock-out tag-out procedures.
 

 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral).
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics.
  • Must have basic hand tools – sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeter, etc.
  • Must be able safely and accurately operate stick welding equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate scissor lift.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Experience in OSHA and general safety guidelines to effectively follow instructions and train others.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and identify priorities based on production needs, and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members.
  • Open to and able to work 1st or 2nd shift, and willing to rotate shifts depending on need.
  • Open to long hours and working weekends if needed (Sun).
 
Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
 
Work Environment
  • This position exists within a production environment, including hot, noisy, and wet conditions.
  • This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving or mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to hazards including noise, rotating equipment, electricity, confined spaces, chemicals, steam under pressure, climbing, working in positions above and under equipment, working at heights in excess of four (4) feet, and throughout and outside of the facility.
  • Employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than eight hours.
  • Employee is subject to vibrations and exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Employee must be able to climb on top of machinery in a safe and secure manner.
  • Employee is required to lift and/or more machinery covers, as needed.
  • Employee is subject to hazards which may include physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current and high places, work in small confined spaces, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Employee is subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: odors, dusts, mists or poor ventilation.
  • Employee may be subject to moderate levels of noise.
  • Employee must be able to work at a repetitive, short-cycle operation requiring some judgment.
  • Ability to work long hours under emergency situations in order to restore equipment malfunctions.
  • Employee must be able to extend hands, arms in any direction, move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Employee must be able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Must be able to consistently bend, stoop, reach, climb and descend multiple stairs and/or stairwells.
 
Physical Demands
  • Pushing/pulling of laundry carts with weights of 400 lbs. is common with some cart weights exceeding 600 lbs. Safety toe shoes are required and other personal protective equipment may be required depending on work assignments.
  • Requires constant walking throughout the service center, lifting and carrying of tools and equipment exceeding 50 pounds.
     
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • Hours of operation mostly include Sunday through Thursday during suggested and agreed upon hours.
  • Employee must be available on Friday’s in case of emergencies.
     
Travel
  • No travel is expected for this position.
     
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years industrial/commercial maintenance experience
  • Experience in OSHA and general safety guidelines to effectively follow instructions and train others.
